Which plastic your product is printed in dictates how you care for it. For example: PLA - do not store in direct sunlight and do not leave in hot places such as a closed car in the sun as it may deform the plastic. Wipe down with a damp cloth. Do not use alcohol.
PETG and CARBON FIBRE - this plastic can tolerate much more heat. It is uv stable and can go in both sun and water. To clean use soap and water not alcohol.
TPU - Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. do not use alcohol. TPU can be submerged and air dried.
Carbon Fibre - This is extremely hardy and can be cleaned with scrubbing or cloth and soap. it can be submerged in water. Do not use alcohol as it may effect the finish.
1. GENERAL CARE
Toola3D products are made using
high-quality 3D printing materials. To ensure your item lasts as long as
possible, please follow the care guidelines below. These apply to all items
including custom keychains, lithophanes, NFC-enabled objects, and decorative
items.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight — UV rays can cause some plastics to become brittle or
discoloured over time. - Keep away from heat sources — Most
3D printed plastics (like PLA or PETG) can warp, soften, or deform if
exposed to temperatures above 50ºC. - Avoid impacts or drops — While
strong, printed items can chip or break if mishandled.
2. CLEANING
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down
the surface. Microfibre is ideal. - Do not use abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals (e.g. acetone, alcohol, bleach), as these can damage the
finish or detail. - Compressed air or a soft brush can
be used to remove dust from intricate areas (e.g. lithophanes or textured
prints). - If your item has NFC chips, avoid soaking or immersing
the item in water.
3. SPECIAL CARE FOR LITHOPHANES
Lithophanes are especially delicate:
- Display away from direct sunlight to preserve detail.
- Clean only with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Do not press firmly on the surface; the thin areas can flex and
may crack under pressure.
4. REPAIRS & TOUCH-UPS
- Minor surface scratches can
sometimes be smoothed gently with fine-grit sandpaper (test on a hidden
spot first). - If a part breaks, you can try a suitable plastic-safe
adhesive, but we recommend contacting us first for advice.
5. STORAGE
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Keep items away from pets, young children, and damp
environments. - Avoid stacking heavy items on top of thinner or decorative
prints.
